About

Software built by someone
who needed it first

GetBoosh is not a startup with a roadmap. It is one person who ran a web studio, got tired of paying monthly for tools that held his clients' work hostage, and built the alternatives.

Who

Chris Good

I am a digital strategist based in Devon. I run Boosh Digital, a web design and local SEO agency working with small businesses across Exeter, Plymouth and the South West, and I write about digital strategy at chrisgood.online.

The two things feed each other. The agency work is where these problems show up: a client who cannot edit their own website, an SEO tool that costs more than the retainer, a project running late because nobody counted the recurring work. The apps are what came out of solving them properly rather than living with them.

I also make a podcast, Digital Strategy and Growth, and put things on YouTube. If you want the reasoning behind any of this rather than the sales version, that is where it is.

Why

Why these apps exist

Every one of them started as a bill I did not want to keep paying, or a conversation I did not want to keep having.

BooshCMS came from handing a site over and watching the client discover that editing their own words costs a monthly fee forever. BooshSEO came from paying a platform three figures a month to mark up data I could buy directly. BooshHUB came from running projects out of a spreadsheet, an inbox and a diary that did not know about each other. BooshDESIGN came from the gap between a design file and a working page, which somebody always pays to cross twice.

The common thread is ownership. Your data lives in a file on your machine. Your client's content lives in your client's own repository. What you pay for is the software, never access to your own work. If GetBoosh disappeared tomorrow, everything you had made with it would carry on working, and that is a deliberate design constraint, not a marketing line.

I wrote about the experience of building them in Stop looking, start leaping, if you are curious how three commercial apps happen in six months.

How

Built on the same stack we recommend

This site is Astro, statically generated, hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Every page you are reading was prerendered at build time; the only exception is the contact form, which has to handle a POST.

The apps assume the same. BooshCMS edits Astro content collections directly, BooshDESIGN and GenCSS generate plain CSS with no runtime, and FEWD Studio opens the project as it is. Nothing here needs a framework you would not have chosen anyway.

If you are weighing that decision yourself, two pieces worth reading: why I moved from WordPress to Astro and is SEO easier with Astro or WordPress.

Ask me something

Whether an app suits how you work, or whether you would be better off with something else entirely. I would rather talk you out of the wrong one than sell it to you.

Every message is answered by me, usually within a working day.
