Getting started
Your first client, deal and project
How the records relate to each other, and the shortest useful path from an empty workspace to a plan for the week.
BooshHUB has one shape running through it: a client has deals before the work is won and projects after it, and projects hold tasks. Everything else hangs off those.
Add the client
A client needs a name. Everything else — contacts, addresses, the folder on your disk where their files live — can be filled in as you go.
Contacts belong to the client rather than floating free, so a person always arrives with the company attached.
Deals, while it is still a maybe
A deal is work you have not won yet. Give it a value and a stage, and drag it between stages as it moves. The stages are yours to name in Settings → Channels; the ones it ships with are a starting point, not a prescription.
A deal that comes off becomes a project. Nothing is retyped.
Projects and tasks
A project is the container for delivery. Read it as a list when you want the detail, work it as a board when you want to see flow, or open the timeline when somebody asks when it will be finished.
Tasks are where the day actually happens. The two fields that earn their keep:
- Estimate — how long you think it takes. Without one, a task cannot be planned, and the auto-scheduler will list it as skipped rather than guess.
- Due date — the deadline it has to land before.
Leave the start blank and the optimiser chooses when it happens. Type a start in yourself and you have pinned it, and the optimiser will work around it instead.
Then plan the week
Once a handful of tasks have estimates and deadlines, Calendar → ⟳ Optimise will lay them out for you. That is worth its own page: Planning your week with Optimise.
