Getting started
Setting up your workspace
First launch, where the workspace lives, and the two settings worth getting right before you put any real work in.
There is no account to create and no sign-up. The first time you open BooshHUB it makes a workspace and you are in it.
The workspace is a file
Everything structured — clients, deals, projects, tasks, invoices — goes into a single SQLite database on your own machine. Your documents stay where they already are: attach a folder or a Drive link to a record and the app stores the pointer, not a copy.
That is worth knowing on day one because it decides how you back things up. See Where your data lives for the paths and the backup layers.
Local or synced
A workspace runs local by default, which is the right choice if it is only ever you. Switching it to synced lets a second machine or a colleague reach the same data.
A snapshot is taken automatically before sync is enabled and before it is turned back off, so the switch is reversible either way.
Set your working hours first
Settings → Schedule is where you say which hours of which days you actually work. It looks like housekeeping and it is not: it is the capacity figure that the over-capacity warnings and the whole auto-scheduler are measured against.
Set it honestly rather than aspirationally. A week described as 60 hours will cheerfully accept 60 hours of work.
Add your sending identities
If you want mail inside the app, Settings → Email takes one or more IMAP and SMTP identities. Several is normal — a studio address, a personal one, one for a brand you run separately. Each is a persona, and mail is matched to the client it belongs to regardless of which one it came through.
Credentials are encrypted with the operating system’s own secure store and are machine-bound, so copying the database to another computer does not carry them with it. You re-enter them once on the new machine, by design.
What to do next
Add a client and give it something to do: Your first client, deal and project.
